Recommendation to Swedes abroad
October 17, 2023 – The threat to Sweden and Swedish interests abroad was already classed as heightened. In light of the fact that two Swedes have been killed in Brussels following a terrorist act, Swedes abroad are encouraged to exercise increased caution and vigilance, and follow the advice of local authorities. Swedes abroad are also encouraged to register on the list of Swedish citizens abroad (only in Swedish), and download the UD Resklar app and activate push notifications for the country in question.
Ambassador H.E. Karin Olofsdotter Visits Dallas
March 10, 2023 – Today, we were honored to welcome the Swedish Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Karin Olofsdotter to Dallas. The day started out with a visit with Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson at City Hall together with Ms. Kay Bailey Hutchison, former United States Ambassador to NATO and a member of the Mayor’s International Advisory Council. The primary purpose of the meeting was to discuss opportunities to promote trade and investments between Dallas and Sweden. The Ambassador then proceeded to the Dallas City Council Chambers to meet with the female Dallas City Council members and commemorate International Women’s Day with photos and well wishes.
The day continued at the Richardson IQ with a luncheon celebrating women, innovations and global partnerships organized together with the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce Texas. The Swedish company BioServo presented their latest innovation in wearable grip-strengthening systems for the US market. Richardson Mayor Paul Voelker gave a tour of the IQ and talked about North Texas being the perfect location for Swedish start-ups in the United States. Pia Orrenius, Vice President and Senior Economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, then moderated a panel of women, including the Ambassador, Barbara Baffer, Vice President Government and Industry Relations with Ericsson, and Helanie Scott, CEO for Align4Profit. There were numerous discussions, and ideas were shared on topics such as how to increase the participation of women in STEM and AI. Everyone involved in the day brought so much energy and enthusiasm and it was a true joy to show the Ambassador what North Texas has to offer.
